Hello, High School! – Grade 7 Summer Tech Camp Begins!

Week 1 of our Summer Tech Camp is off to a great start! Our future high schoolers are diving into the world of coding, digital tools, and teamwork—one block, click, and screen at a time!

The school year hasn’t started yet, but our incoming Grade 7 students at Bohol Deaf Academy, Inc. are already making big moves! 🎉 Through a special 2-week Summer Class Program, we’re teaming up once again with our partner school to help students get tech-ready for high school—with fun, hands-on, and beginner-friendly sessions at the Access Learning Lab every afternoon! 

Each day is exciting! In the morning, students join their academic subjects and fun campus activities. But in the afternoon, it’s tech time with us! 🚀 During our hybrid class setup (2 days onsite, 3 days online), students are learning the basics of digital literacy—from using the snipping tool, copy-paste, and dual monitors, to understanding how to stay safe online. And yes, they get to practice everything using their own tablets through games like Kahoot, making each topic extra fun and easy to remember! 

One of the coolest parts? They’re now creating their own Gmail accounts, learning what incognito mode is, and why internet safety matters. And in our Tech-for-Fun class, they’re starting with MakeCode Arcade—an awesome way to learn how games work while building their tech confidence! This is so important, especially because many of these students had little to no experience using laptops or computers before. Seeing them explore and learn with so much energy is truly heartwarming. 💙 

We’re proud of how far they’ve come in just one week, and we’re even more excited to see what they’ll achieve in Week 2! This summer class isn’t just about learning—it’s about opening doors to the digital world and helping our Deaf students shine as they enter high school with confidence. 🌟
