Grade 10 Learns About Data Breaches, Safe Browsing & Strong Passwords

ree

The internet is a big part of our daily lives, but it also comes with risks, one of the biggest being data breaches. But what does that mean? A data breach happens when hackers steal personal information, like passwords and emails, from online accounts. This can put people at risk of identity theft and account hacking.

To help protect themselves, Grade 10 students explored how data breaches happen, what to do if their information is exposed, and how to create strong passwords. Students did interactive activities to test their password strength and check if their emails had been part of a past data breach using haveibeenpwned.com. They also learned how to use incognito mode for safer browsing.

By the end of the session, students felt more confident about keeping their online accounts and personal information secure. This important lesson helps them stay safe as they continue using the internet for school, social media, and more!
